We aimed to kick off a third generation of family enjoying lake activities together and by God's grace with good health and gorgeous weather it happened! As a child and then again as a father our families have vacationed at lake properties from VA to NY. Now as a grandfather this house reminded us of all the best features we've enjoyed before: There's easy and safe swimming with a gradual water entry and no-traffic location. In the cove is quiet water for tubing, wake-boarding, and skiing; and then it opens onto a huge lake for scenic boat rides. (The nearby marina offers ramp, gas, and a restaurant.) The property offers a wider assortment of watercraft than we've ever found in one place. The house easily allowed smaller children to sleep while bigger kids played games together. The kitchen was fully equipped and there's a wonderful covered grill. A western view over the water makes the most of sunsets. After an experimental long weekend both our kids and their kids gave the ultimate compliment-- "can we come again next year and stay longer?"
It's 5 O'clock...Here August 16-28, 2018
We loved It' Five O'clock...Here, and are hoping to come back. Your neighbors are angels who help us above and beyond! My husband has had a rough year health wise and when he got out of the hospital two weeks before we were to come here he was wheel chair bound. The travel chair we came with was not adequate, and your neighbors loaned us an electric chair and also a wheel chair with big wheels. We were able to rest, relax and fish. My husband is a bass fisherman and he even caught a bass despite the shallow water. Thank you, Donna and Lou Bigelow, August 16-28, 2018
So glad you enjoined this home! Looking forward to having you back!
Screened in porch was a plus. The "out door" toys were an added bonus. The layout of the house was perfect for a family. The foyer was spacious and the dinning area and kitchen overlooked the lake. The over sized master bedroom overlooking the lake was great. We would choose this house again if returning to this side of the lake.
Thanks Nellie! Would love to have you back to visit again!! Jenny Lynn Tennessee Lakefront Cottages
The house was the perfect setup for our group of 9 people. We really liked having 4 bathrooms for our crowd. The kitchen was very open with lots of cabinet space. Plenty of room at the large table to eat and play cards. The separate sunroom area allowed some to watch movies while others read a book or played games in a different area. The air conditioning worked great for our hot summer week. The separate fish cleaning area was put to good use by my son cleaning catfish daily. The owners have added a few more things since we originally booked- now have a beverage refrigerator on the screened in porch, a trampoline in the lake and a slide off of the dock. We really enjoyed all of the toys to use in the water and the dock worked great for our boat and jetski. We will book again next summer if our plans take us to Tennessee!
Thank you so much! We are so glad you enjoined Tennessee Lakefront Cottages' It's 5 O'clock...here! We agree this is one special property! Sincerely hope you will be back again and again. We would love to have you! Jennifer Niez Tennessee Lakefront Cottages
We had a great weekend at this property. The front yard and lake shore are perfect. The water is about 50 feet from the house, and the private dock is perfect for lounging. The house is outdated, but who cares? It has an open layout so all guests can be in the kitchen/living/dining area. The beds were adequate, the air conditioning worked great, and the screened in porch was perfect for when the sun was setting. The reason for four stars: 1) they have most of the kitchen appliances, but they only have one pan, one mixing bowl. one cutting board, etc. We definitely could've used more throughout our stay. 2) The wifi worked well for most of the stay, but stopped working for about 12 hours (with no cell service, you notice this). 3) They tell you this upfront, but is a large hassle to have to take your trash with you when you leave. They provide you a place to bring it, but it is closed on Sundays, Wednesdays. and holidays. We stayed here on Memorial Day weekend so we had no choices. If you leave it behind, they charge $20/bag which is ridiculous. We would've gladly paid $50 more for the stay if we were able to leave trash. Overall, a wonderful weekend. We had a lot of fun enjoying the sun with beverages. If you aren't bothered by any of the cons listed above, you will love this place.
Overall this was a good place. Close to the water, good availability of canoes/kayaks/etc, and nice view of the lake and sunset from the kitchen. The layout is a bit spread out and clunky but it's very functional. I did email the owner asking about a corkscrew since it was missing (I mean, the place is called 5 o'clock right?). The response was effectively 'there's a store down the road so you can go buy one on your own' but I wasn't really interested in taking time on my vacation to go get something that should have been there. Glad we didn't need anything else!
Hey Ryan, So glad you had a good time in the home! Everyone seems to really enjoy it! Just to clarify, when you texted me "Where is the cork screw?", my response was it should be in the top kitchen drawer and if you don't find it there, I can bring you one or if you are having urgency and can't wait , you can go down to the convenience store just down the street to pick one up. When I didn't hear back , I had assume you found it . My apologies for putting you out. Next visit, I will have personally bar tend for you! Looking forward to having you back! The house is great!. Beautiful view facing the water and very cozy on the inside. Very clean and presentable
Perfect Lake Get Away
Perfect Lake Getaway. We stayed here for the for Total Eclipse and had a wonderful time. The house is clean and comfortable with many special touches to make us feel welcomed. All the descriptions listed are accurate - but it's even better in person. The beds are super comfortable with new/nice bedding and linens. Most of the appliances are brand new, including an outdoor grill. The screened in patio is perfect for lingering into the evening, with a separate beverage cooler down there. We brought a boat and are water skiers. The dock was perfect, complete with a cute chair and bench made of old-school skis that reminded us of our childhood. There is a boat ramp, but it's a little to shallow to launch there; however there's a public launch just .8 of a mile up the road at Blue Springs Marina. The water is shallow enough at the edge to wade in/swim and easy to launch the 2 kayaks! This little cove is quiet with nice neighbors, but just about short ride past the marina and into the main channel of the lake. You can still ski in the cove. This house, the lot and the dock are easily accessible, therefore great for all ages. Lots of levels, rooms and doors - the kids loved playing hide-n-seek. Oh, and the air conditioner worked great!
Location! Location! Location!
Location, Location, Location! Our stay was great, marina was right around the corner so we rented a boat for a couple days, so much fun, quiet area, restaurant at the marina was great, beds were super comfy, lots of room for family to visit. Plenty of bathrooms. Would definitely recommend this place, great price as well. Jennifer is so easy to work with.
Will definitely rent again!
We enjoyed our 10 days at the lake house and would definitely rent again. The house is spacious and clean with comfortable beds, plenty of seating, a great view, kayaks and the dock! The only thing missing were a few things in the kitchen (serving bowls, cookie sheets, etc.) but the basics were provided. Jennifer is a gracious host and was very helpful when we had questions.
