Come retreat from it all at Port Gillum. This one of a kind oasis was built with the sophisticated vacationer in mind! When you first arrive at the estate you will be met with a small vineyard of grapes which the owner grows to create his own wine. And yes, you are welcomed to sample both the grapes and the wine left for you to enjoy! Take a moment to witness the wildlife who share this beautiful property with you. You may see the Eagles which nest near the property line as well as deer, beaver, river otters, osprey, rabbits and flying squirrels to mention a few.
At the end of the stately driveway, to the left, you are able to park an RV/ Camper and utilize the available 30 amp hook up and water source. To the right, you will see an open air fire pit to roast marshmallows and enjoy the stars. During the day you will enjoy watching the Eagles soar above amongst other beautiful birds and wildlife native to the area. As you walk from the driveway to the home's entry you will find a darling Guest Arborhaus with bunk beds, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and all the comforts of tiny house living (with the exception of a bathroom). Continue to travel outside the Guest Arborhaus to experience a serenity garden perfectly planned for your meditation, Tai Chi or yoga practice to calm your inner being while connecting your mind, body and soul. You will enjoy hours in the garden listening to the gentle waterfall and admiring the cherry blossoms when in bloom with the lake as its back drop.
Upon entering the home you will be immediately drawn to the large glass sliding doors which allow a breathtaking lake view from every room. Before you step back outside take a moment to see the dual masters with full baths on either side of the main living area. Should additional sleeping arrangements be needed, the fold out ottoman converts to a twin size bed and if needed an extra air mattress may be provided.
The main living area is an open concept which hosts a warm gas fireplace and big screen TV as well as a lake view dining area . You will also find a small work area if you must be productive, wifi internet is included. A small room where a wet bar, wine refrigerator and laundry machines are tucked away but can be seen from the pass through when serving up a glass of proprietary wine. On the opposite side of the living area is a modern kitchen with upgraded appliances which includes a dual oven, dish washer, refrigerator, freezer and an additional wine refrigerator. You will find everything you need to make your special someone a romantic dinner or feed your family a real home cooked meal.
As comfortable as the inside of this home is, you will be drawn to spend most of your time on the back patio deck which is accessible from both bedrooms and living area. The unique deck gives an illusion of being suspended above the lake with uninterrupted water views. It's the perfect spot to relax in either the private sauna or the six person hot tub after an exciting day of boating or fishing from the private dock. If you forgot your fishing rods, there is no need to worry. The owner has left rods and reels for you to use! Also provided for you is your very own fish cleaning station by the dock and a gas grill on the deck or open fire pit with a grate for grilling, located in the front of the home to cook your catch of the day! If the idea of a more intimate patio is of an appeal, follow the soothing sounds of the waterfall to find a second deck with a patio an additional gas grill perfect for outdoor dining in the side yard just under the serenity garden. The boat dock is equipped with a 110 volt 20 amp outlet for charging your boat battery.

We could not have asked for a more perfect setting...both inside and outside, for our stay at Port Gillum. The well appointed kitchen, comfortable home to the outdoor arena of beauty. the owner has made sure all amenities are available for a relaxing stay. We will continue to talk about 'when we can return' while reliving our restoration. Thanks Port Gillum..... Gary and Deb H (October 2018)
My wife and I are well traveled and have stayed at lots of VRBO's over the years. This home although not very big (1200-1600 sqft.) is very well appointed. The space is laid out perfectly to afford full views of the lake from every room. The kitchen is well equipped. The owners of this house seem like very interesting folks. From making their own wine to authoring several books. We can clearly see where they get the inspiration for writing. The property layout is very interesting as well. A Japanese garden, a small vineyard, steps down to the lake, a long concrete driveway/parking makes for easy access and departure and a large fishing dock with a storage room filled with fishing gear. If you happen to run out of beer, the Arbor House steps away from the front door offers a secured fridge fully stocked for visitor use. That's a really nice amenity. They also have (home) bottled wines (for sale) very reasonably priced in wine chillers in a couple areas of the house. How is that for VRBO hospitality! We spent 3.5 days at this place and definitely plan to return. Its a neat place for R&R. You won't be disappointed. Jon and Cindy Knoxville, TN

This is the cutest house we have been to! The view of the lake was amazing! We docked our boat and enjoyed days of fishing! It was so nice to take breaks and eat lunch and go back out to fish. We definitely will stay here again! The deck was where we spent the majority of our time. It’s got everything you need! The owner truly cares about your experience here! Definitely do not pass this one by!
Wonderful and welcoming home with a fully stocked kitchen and easy access to the lake. The only thing I would have changed is that we would have stayed longer.
Thank you! So glad you enjoined Tennessee Lakefront Cottage's Port Gillum! Everyone loves this home!!! Hope you will back it back to visit again! We would love to have you! Jennifer Niez Tennessee Lakefront Cottages
Over all we had a great time. It was pretty easy to find. The home was well equipped and clean. The views were great. The deck was great. The only down side was the trash and having to carry out to a location. The convenience centers where you can take it was not well marked but to big issue was we left on Wednesday and they are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. Knowing that we would of taken most of it out Tuesday and only been left with a little on Wednesday. Overall it was good.
My wife and I could not have been happier in our choice for our Spring 2018 vacation. Port Gillum is a beautiful home in a perfect location. Situated midway on Watts Bar lake you have easy access in both directions to the lake. Close to towns yet far enough away that there is no traffic noise.(Always a plus for me) A lovely, comfortable, welcoming home with any amenity you would ever need. Kudos to the property manager and the owner. We had a problem with the A/C mid-stay and much to my surprise they had a Service Tech onsite within an hour of my phone call to address and fix the problem. And this was 2 days before Memorial day weekend. Again, we could have not been happier with our stay at Port Gillum and we highly recommend this property. We will definitely return. D & D Castle
